- MathXL Programme Executive
- Early Childhood Development Specialist
- Montessori & Behavioural Learning Practitioner
Every parent wants to know that the person guiding their child's education genuinely understands children; not only academically, but emotionally, developmentally and individually.
For Nasreen Adams, working with young children has never simply been a profession. It has become a lifelong passion dedicated to unlocking the remarkable learning potential that exists during the earliest years of life.
With an Honours Degree in Psychology from Roehampton University in the United Kingdom, together with professional Montessori Teacher Training through the College of Modern Montessori (UK), Nasreen combines scientific understanding of child development with nearly two decades of practical classroom experience working with young learners across a wide range of educational settings.
Her professional journey has taken her from Montessori classrooms to specialist educational environments supporting children with autism and additional learning needs, allowing her to develop an unusually broad understanding of how children learn, process information and develop confidence.
Today she serves as an Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) Tutor, delivering structured one-on-one educational support for children with autism and developmental needs while helping many learners successfully integrate into mainstream education.
A Deep Understanding of How Young Minds Learn
One of the greatest privileges of Nasreen's career has been witnessing the extraordinary learning capacity of children during their earliest years.
She firmly believes that the period between 3 and 6 years of age represents one of the most important opportunities in a child's educational journey.
Young children possess an incredible ability to absorb knowledge naturally when learning is presented in the right way.
Throughout her Montessori teaching career, she has repeatedly watched children develop number sense, mathematical reasoning and problem-solving abilities through carefully designed hands-on learning experiences. Rather than memorising facts, children build genuine understanding by working with concrete materials that allow mathematical concepts to become meaningful and intuitive.
For Nasreen, there is no greater reward than watching a child experience that moment when understanding suddenly "clicks"; when confidence replaces uncertainty and learning becomes enjoyable.
Experience Across Diverse Learning Needs
Nasreen's background extends far beyond traditional classroom teaching.
Having worked extensively with children who have autism and other developmental differences, she has developed specialist skills in:
- Behavioural learning support
- Emotional regulation strategies
- Individualised learning approaches
- Communication development
- Creating calm, structured learning environments
- Helping children build confidence through positive reinforcement
Her psychology background also enables her to recognise when a child may be experiencing deeper learning or developmental challenges, allowing educational approaches to be adapted to meet each child's individual needs.
Why Hands-On Learning and Training Matters
Across every educational setting in which she has worked, one principle has remained consistently true:
Children understand concepts far more deeply when they experience them before they are expected to think about them abstractly.
This philosophy sits at the heart of both Montessori education and Applied Behaviour Analysis.
Whether teaching colours to a toddler through play, helping a child understand quantity using physical objects, or developing early mathematical reasoning, meaningful learning occurs when children actively engage and are trained in concepts rather than simply memorising information.
Nasreen has seen countless examples where children who begin learning early; and who are exposed consistently to carefully structured, hands-on activities, systematic training; develop stronger retention, greater confidence and a genuine enjoyment of learning.
Why MathXL Resonated With Me
When I first encountered the MathXL programme, I immediately recognised something different.
The programme aligns closely with everything I have learned throughout my professional journey in psychology, Montessori education and ABA therapy. This convinced me to invest my skills to perfect the programme.
MathXL recognises that the earliest years are not simply preparation for future learning; they are the foundation upon which future success is built.
Its emphasis on concrete learning experiences, structured progression, repetition with understanding and consistent practice reflects many of the educational principles that research has repeatedly shown to be most effective for young learners.
Perhaps the greatest endorsement came from seeing the results first-hand.
Watching a 6 year-old, who was exposed to the programme, confidently solve percentage calculations mentally demonstrated just how powerfully this programme develops mathematical thinking; not through rote learning, but through genuine understanding.
As both an educator and a parent, I often find myself wishing programmes like MathXL had been available even earlier for the children closest to me.
The years between 3 and 6 are an extraordinary window of opportunity when children's minds are naturally primed to absorb knowledge. When this period is used effectively, children develop strong mathematical foundations that can benefit them throughout their entire educational journey.
That is precisely why I believe MathXL is so valuable.
It provides parents with an opportunity to invest in one of the greatest gifts they can give their child; a confident, capable mathematical mind who have developed a relationship with numbers and ability to apply critical thinking to real-life problems early on.
A Message to Parents
Every child has remarkable potential. The question is not whether children can learn; it is whether they are given the right opportunities at the right time.
As Stephen Covey said, with people going slow is fast. Initially, the course will seem elementary, small baby steps… but combined with the frequency of training; soon enough, you will see your child will be ahead of their relative peers.
My commitment through MathXL is to help every child build strong mathematical foundations in a nurturing, encouraging and scientifically informed learning environment where confidence grows alongside competence. When children experience success early, they begin to believe in themselves. That belief often becomes the foundation for a lifetime of success.
